Building Inspections

24 HOURS NOTICE FOR ALL INSPECTIONS

Note:  Additional inspections may be needed during construction.  It is the permit holder and owners responsibility to contact the Building Inspector for inspections as outlined below.  If not called for a required inspection, the Building Inspector may require removal of coverings, and/or moving or removal of structure(s) to meet all requirements.  For an inspection or questions, call the Building Inspector at  (989) 737-5756.

Inspections are required for all of the following:   

New House/House Additions

  • Footing Inspection (prior to pouring concrete)
  • Backfill Inspection (prior to backfilling footing)
  • Frame/Rough In Inspection (prior to drywall or covering)
  • Final Inspection

New Commercial Building/Additions

  • Footing Inspection (prior to pouring concrete)
  • Backfill Inspection (prior to backfilling footing)
  • Frame/Rough In Inspection (prior to drywall or covering)
  • Final Inspection

Garage/Pole Building/Shed/New or Additions

  • Slab/Footing/Post Hole Inspection (prior to pouring concrete)
  • Backfill Inspection (not required if on a slab)
  • Frame/Rough In Inspection
  • Final (if finished interior only)

Pool

  • Pool Placement Inspection (prior to installing pool)
  • Final (upon completion of pool and fence)

Demolition

  • Backfill Inspection (basement inspection, for rubble removal and utility seal before backfill)
  • Final Inspection

Interior Remodel

  • Rough In Inspection (prior to drywall or covering)
  • Final Inspection

Signs/Sidewalks/Decks/Lights/Parking Lots/Misc.

  • Footing/Placement Inspection (prior to pouring concrete or asphalt)
  • Final Inspection
